Barb Hella at the Movies!!Barb Hella just played at the Sci-Fi Under Ground Film Fest. Very proud to have had my work shown in public again, even if I wasn't there. One thing I hadn't considered previously is that puppet movies with few words are ideal for the international audience. You can learn more about the Sci-Fi Under Ground Film Fest here.

Barb Hella: Space Cop
Completed in May 2016, Barb Hella: Future Cop, features the antics of a future crime fighter in San Francisco. Inspired by the opening titles of shows like The streets of San Francisco and Thunderbirds, the idea was to create mash up of exciting scenes using dolls, models and puppets.
The original version had really bad audio and a fake VCR effect. A new "directors cut" released in Sep 16 restores both the video and audio.
Also, uploaded to Film Freeway so hopefully get it into a festival or two. Update: She played in 2 film festivals. Nice work Barb!

Presented below are some of the inspirations for the project as well as some of the models used. In some ways this project was created to "use up" some models that had already made, like the yellow "Skunk Fighter" and the blue "SuperSuper Sabre" which never made the final cut. There are a couple of missing scenes one involving a moon buggy and an Easter Island head on the moon and another featuring a cop car being chased by a giant robot. Maybe one day....
More Madness
A Lindberg Gralien and a Hexbug Spider. The Gralien will be trapped in the car headlights. The Spider is gonna be Soviet style and about 50 feet tall :-)
T42 Wombat Utility Lift
Originally designed for use by the Australian military the T42 also found popularity in civilian markets because of its robust construction, high reliability and low noise signature.
Have Spacesuit, will travel
A funko Ripley figure getting converted into Barb Hella in spacesuit. I have a nice casting of an Easter Island head which will feature in a shot reminiscent of 2001. Trying to hide the joints as well as the Alien heritage. Needs bigger boots. We won't mention the cricket pads.
1 Minute of Sci Fi Action = How many shots?
How many shots do I need and therefore how many different models do I need? This is meant to be the titles for a TV show, so what I want its lots of cool action, no plot required! The Streets of San Francisco titles are 1 minute and 5 seconds long and feature a lot of very fast cuts. I'll want some slightly longer cuts to feature some cool vehicles and such.
